Oral history interviews with Vernon and Gladys Jack, conducted by Mark Collins 12 and 25 July 1978 for the Utah State Historical Society and California State University, Fullerton Oral History Program. The subjects are trading on a Navajo reservation and life as an indian trader's wife. Vernon dicusses life running his indian posts, the Navajo tribe, and the construction of the Boulder City, Nevada, dam. Bound manuscript, 41 and 32 pages, photocopied pictures and indexes included.

Vernon William Jack was born 25 May 1909 in Bountiful, Conejos, Colorado, to William Jefferson Jack and Clara Ann Rogers. He married Gladys Cardon 15 October 1932 in Kirtland, San Juan, New Mexico. He spent his life as a trader on Indian reservations in Arizona and New Mexico. Vernon died 17 April 1983 in Monticello, San Juan, Utah. Gladys Cardon Jack was born 23 Jan 1913 in Jaynes, Pima, Arizona to Joseph Elmer Cardon and Lucinda Hurst. She died 4 July 2005. ...
